Today you will have competitions but first let’s go in the class and see some video. Also I can say that different contests are waiting for you. You will guess riddles, translate the proverbs, ask each other questions and play games.

Now we’ll go in front of school to take part in the competitions.

   I have to divide you into two groups. Come to my bag and take a candy out of it. Oranges go on the right and reddes - on the left. Doing the tasks you’ll get points for the correct answers. One point is one candy. So let’s start our game. Good luck for every group.

So we have two teams. Participants of each team in turn come to the table and take a piece of paper. You should do the task written on the paper.

The first task is to greet another team and wish them all good luck but you should do it as politely and sincerely as you can. Don’t forget that after doing this task you may get from 1 to 5 points and one point is equal to one candy.

Now you all will be like real teachers. You should correct mistakes onto your sheets of paper. The more mistakes you find the more points you will get. There are 12 mistakes in the letter. Start!

   The next task is called “Poems”. What is your attitude towards writing poems? Your task is to think of a rhyme to each word. For example: take – cake, mother – another… The more rhyming words the more points. Let’s start!

   Do you know any English proverbs? So it will help you while doing the next task. Come to the table and choose a piece of paper with the proverb. Then try to translate it. Good luck!

  • Game “Guess the word”

   1)At first it’s a contest for captains and their teams. You’ll have a card with a word on it (everybody sees the word) and you should write your five associations with that notion. While the captain writes his own associations, the members of his team try to guess the captain’s associations and speak them aloud. The team can get five points for all five guessed associations.

For example, pupils’ associations with the word:Sun

1)yellow;

2) round;
3) hot;
4) summer;
5) sky.

For example words:      

Birthday
Oranges
English test

and others.

   2)Secondly the captain or any of you can think and write a word, but don’t show it to anybody. Then this person writes 5 own associations with it. Others should guess what word is this.
